Acceptable Use Policy

Effective October 9, 2026 · Version 2026-10-09

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) applies to everyone who uses the AutoLens service, the AutoLens — Website to Marketplace Chrome extension, the mobile app, or the AutoLens API (the “Service”). It is incorporated into the Terms of Service. Breaking it is a material breach of those Terms.

The core rule

You may only use the AutoLens capture features on websites you own, or on websites you have written permission from the rights holder to publish content from.

AutoLens exists to move your own inventory onto Facebook Marketplace faster. It is not a tool for copying other people’s listings. If you would have to ask someone else for permission before republishing a photo or a description, you need that permission in writing before you capture it.

1.Where You May Use the Extension

You may use the capture features on:

  • your dealership’s own website — a site your dealership owns, operates, or controls;
  • a website operated for your dealership by a website vendor, provided your agreement with that vendor permits you to reproduce and republish the content on it (many vendor agreements assign or reserve copyright in photography, descriptions, and page design to the vendor — check yours);
  • any other website where you hold written permission from the rights holder to capture and republish the content for commercial purposes.

“Written permission” means an actual licence, assignment, or written consent from the party that owns the content. A verbal assurance, an assumption because you paid for something, or the absence of a published prohibition is not permission. Copyright is default-deny: a website with no terms of use has not granted you a licence.

2.Prohibited: Third-Party Sites and Competitors

You must not use the Service, in whole or in part, to:

  • capture, extract, copy, or download content from third-party classified or marketplace websites — including but not limited to vehicle marketplaces, classified-listing aggregators, auction sites, and any site that syndicates other sellers’ inventory;
  • capture content from a competitor’s website — another dealership’s site, another seller’s listings, or any inventory that is not yours to sell;
  • capture content from any website you do not own and for which you do not hold written permission, regardless of whether that content is publicly visible;
  • republish another party’s photographs, images, video, listing descriptions, specification text, or other copyrighted material without holding the rights to do so — including material that appears on a page displaying your own inventory but is owned by a vendor, syndicator, manufacturer, or photographer;
  • use another party’s trademarks, brand names, logos, or dealership identity in a way you are not authorized to;
  • circumvent, disable, or work around a website’s access controls, paywall, login requirement, rate limits, robots directives, or any technical measure intended to restrict automated access;
  • use the Service in a way that breaches the terms of use of any website or platform you interact with.

If you are unsure whether a page is in scope, the safe answer is that it is not. Capture it only from your own inventory pages, or shoot your own photographs.

3.Prohibited: Content and Advertising

You must not use the Service to publish or transmit:

  • listings for vehicles you do not have, do not own, cannot sell, or that are already sold or otherwise unavailable;
  • prices that are not the total attainable price where law requires all-in pricing, or prices contingent on undisclosed conditions;
  • inaccurate specifications, mileage, condition, or history, or photographs that do not depict the vehicle offered without disclosing that they are illustrative;
  • content that is unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, deceptive, discriminatory, harassing, obscene, or that infringes anyone’s rights;
  • malware, or content designed to interfere with any system or to phish or deceive a recipient.

4.Prohibited: Messaging and Contact

You must not use the AutoLens messaging features to:

  • send commercial electronic messages without the consent required by CASL, the LGPD, or any other applicable law;
  • message anyone who has opted out, or attempt to evade an unsubscribe, suppression list, or quiet-hours restriction;
  • upload purchased, scraped, harvested, or otherwise non-consented contact lists;
  • misrepresent the sender’s identity or remove required identification information.

5.Prohibited: Platform and Service Abuse

You must not:

  • circumvent posting caps, rate limits, seat limits, tier limits, or any other usage control in the Service — these exist in part to protect your own marketplace accounts;
  • share one account across multiple dealerships or resell access to the Service without our written agreement;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or build a competing product from the Service, except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable by law;
  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or interfere with its operation or with other customers’ use of it;
  • misuse another user’s credentials, or access data belonging to another dealership.

6.Enforcement

Violation of this policy is grounds for immediate suspension or termination of your account, without notice and without refund. Depending on the severity we may, at our discretion: warn you; remove or disable specific content or listings; restrict a feature; suspend your account pending investigation; terminate your account; report the conduct to an affected rights holder, platform, or regulator where required or appropriate; and preserve records relating to the conduct.

We may act on a credible report from a rights holder, a platform, or a regulator without first determining that a violation has been proven. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers as described in the Copyright & Takedown Policy.

Nothing in this section limits the indemnity you owe under Section 4 of the Terms of Service. Enforcement action by AutoLens does not discharge you from liability to a third party.

7.Reporting a Violation

If you believe someone is using AutoLens in breach of this policy — including using it against your website — tell us. Include the URL or listing involved, what was taken, and how to reach you.
